‘Magic Mike 3’ reportedly in the works

Soon-to-be-married actor Channing Tatum is set to reprise his role as male stripper Miles Brockman in the third Magic Mike movie. The details are scarce, but Tatum apparently has no intention of ending the show anytime soon, as Magic Mike 3 will be ready to hit screens “fairly soon.” As mentioned in Entertainment Weekly, the first Magic Mike movie, which starred Tatum and his bestie Matthew McConaughey, quickly took over the box office, with it becoming a surprise hit with audiences. Many have wondered whether this might be a formula that producers want to replicate for Magic Mike 3, and it may well be.

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Tatum said that while stripping is “mixed” with the rest of his career, stripping on screen is “very personal to me.” “It’s a stupid fucking thing to do for a living. I’ve always enjoyed it,” he continued. “What I’m trying to do is pass it on to these guys so that they can have the opportunity.” So far, Magic Mike 3 seems to be shaping up to be an ambitious sequel that could take the franchise in surprising new directions. Magic Mike star Matt Bomer previously suggested that the next movie will be more “about freedom,” something that Tatum concurred with in the interview. A “male empowerment” tale is also one of the new projects that the Magic Mike creative team has been working on, and so could the film’s portrayal of male-stripper stereotypes be one of them?

That final question will be answered in short order, as Magic Mike 3 is set to be out in theatres in 2020.
